SC doctor flees country after raping woman at his office, police say
Thursday, May 19, 2011

ROCK HILL - A doctor is accused of fleeing the country after police say he raped a woman at a Rock Hill medical facility.

According to a report filed with the Rock Hill Police Department, officers were called to Piedmont Medical Center on Monday, May 9, after a 21-year-old woman said she was raped by Dr. Darlington Hart.

The woman told officers she was at Cornerstone Medical, located on Constitution Boulevard, when she was sexually assaulted by Hart, 43.

According to the police report, the woman told officers that she was walking down the hall Monday afternoon when Hart "grabbed her by the left arm, pulling her into his office."

The woman told officers that Hart then turned up the radio and said, "I want to [expletive] you."

He allegedly pushed her against a chair before pulling her underwear down to her knees and raping her.

The report goes on to state that Hart then went to the bathroom in his office and told the woman not to tell anyone about the incident.

The woman told officers that she went to a bathroom down the hall and then returned to work. She reportedly told two employees about the attack and they urged her to go to the emergency room and to notify police.

Police have issued a warrant against Hart for criminal sexual conduct 3rd degree.

According to Lt. Brad Redfearn with the Rock Hill Police Department, Hart is believed to have fled the country and is currently in London, England.
