Robbery victim shot after slapping gun away from his face

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies are looking the person who shot a man during a robbery early Tuesday morning in lower Richland County.

Deputies say the victim was walking near the Exxon gas station at Trotter Road and Leesburg Road shortly after midnight when a car pulled up to him.

The victim says an unknown man armed with a revolver jumped out of the car and demanded money from the victim while pointing the gun at his face.

The victim swatted the gun out of his face, but the gun went off and hit him in the upper body. The victim was able to go home and then to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The suspects got away.

Deputies have not released a description of the suspects. A description of the vehicle the suspects were driving is also not available.
