Man Asks for Cigarette, Steals Bag, Deputies Say
Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Richland County, SC (WLTX) -- According to deputies, a suspected robber asked a victim for a cigarette, and when the man complied, the suspect grabbed a bag and ran away.

Investigators with the Richland County Sheriff's Department say the incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Monday on North Kings Way.

A man wearing a white shirt took the victim's bag after the victim gave the cigarette. The victim chased the other man, when the man pulled out an unknown blade, cutting the victim, according to deputies.

That's when the suspect ran into a green four-door sedan with two female suspects inside.

The victim said he was able to recover the bag, but money that was inside was missing, according to investigators. The victim was treated for his wounds.

If you can help investigators find the suspect, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text a tip to "CRIMES" beginning with the term "TIPSC."
